The Planning Commission reviews land use proposals, provides recommendations to the City Council on the General Plan, Master Plans, Precise Development Plans, Specific Plans, Rezonings, annexations and CEQA determinations; as well as making determinations regarding Tentative Maps, Use Permits and appeals of Design Review Commission and Zoning Administrator decisions.

Project applicants are required to host a neighborhood meeting to present their project proposal, answer questions regarding the project, and receive feedback from members of the public. A neighborhood meeting is the first step in the public review process for a new project.
