You can play a key part in beautifying Novato and creating community pride!

The Adopt-an-Island Program provides a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations, and businesses to directly demonstrate community pride by adopting a median island to beautify and maintain. By adopting an island, you will be helping to create a cleaner, more beautiful Novato, while also establishing habitat for pollinators and preventing litter from entering our waterways. 

Beautification and maintenance activities include litter removal, weeding, planting, and mulching. These activities can either be performed on a volunteer basis or alternatively, adopters can hire a professional landscape contractor to beautify and maintain the adopted island on a regular basis.

Individuals, organizations, and businesses that commit to actively participate in the program for a minimum of two years, will have a customized “Adopted By <Name>” sign installed on the adopted island in recognition of their contribution to the City.
