Novato Storm Response Update

Post Date:12/15/2024 12:00 PM

On Saturday, December 14, Novato experienced heavy rain and strong winds leading to widespread power outages, downed power lines and trees, flooding, road closures, debris on roadways, and traffic signal outages throughout the city. Emergency crews from Novato Police, Public Works and Building, as well as Novato Fire and PG&E continue to resolve multiple storm related incidents impacting our community.

Important Safety Reminders:

We advise residents to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. If you must travel, please adhere to emergency signage and proceed cautiously as cleanup efforts continue and crews work to reopen roadways. If a traffic signal is out, treat the intersection as a four-way stop. Do not attempt to drive through flooded areas and keep away from downed or hanging power lines. If you see downed powerlines, stay away and remain in your home or car. First, call 9-1-1 and then call PG&E at 1-877-660-6789.

Power Outages:

PG&E crews are working to address power outages as quickly as possible. Do not call 9-1-1 to report power outages. For power outage updates and reporting, please visit PG&E’s website at https://pgealerts.alerts.pge.com/outage-tools/outage-map/.

Residents are encouraged to sign up to receive outage alerts directly from PG&E via their website to ensure the most accurate and up to date information about potential outages affecting their area at https://www.pge.com/en/account/manage-my-account/online-account-preferences/outage-alerts.html

Reporting Issues:
To report downed trees and flooding within Novato, please contact Novato Public Works at 415.899.8280. When reporting on weekends or after 5pm on weekdays, please call Novato Police Department’s non-emergency line at 415.897.4361.

Sandbags:

Sand and bags are available at the City of Novato Corporation Yard, 550 Davidson Street. You must supply your own labor and shovels. If you are physically unable to fill bags, please contact Public Works at 415.899.8280 to schedule a time to pick up prefilled bags. Limit 10 per resident. More information at novato.org/sandbags
