In celebration of Earth Day 2025, the City of Novato invites residents to roll up their sleeves for Spring Clean Novato, a citywide community cleanup event taking place on Saturday, April 19 at 9am.
Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate and help beautify the city by picking up litter at one of four designated locations.
- Redwood Blvd (Meet on the corner of Redwood Blvd and Lamont Street)
- Alameda del Prado (Meet on the corner of Alameda del Prado and Posada Del Sol)
- Scottsdale Pond and Marsh Area (Meet at the Scottsdale Pond Gazebo on Redwood Blvd)
- Marin Valley Drive (Meet on the corner of Marin Valley Drive and Bolling Drive)
Spring Clean Novato is an opportunity for neighbors, families, and friends to join forces in giving back to our environment and enhancing the natural beauty of Novato.
“This is a great way for our community to come together and make a tangible impact right here in Novato,” said Sustainability Coordinator Gretchen Schubeck. “Every piece of litter we remove helps protect local wildlife and keeps our public spaces clean and inviting.”
Volunteers are encouraged to bring gardening gloves and a reusable water bottle and wear comfortable, bright-colored clothing, closed-toe shoes and sun protection. Bags and disposable gloves will be provided at each location.

In addition to the cleanup, the City will be hosting a FREE compost giveaway on Saturday, April 19, from 7am to 7pm at the City’s Corporation Yard (550 Davidson Street).
This nutrient-rich, organic compost is perfect for garden beds or container gardening and is available to Novato residents only on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note: Bring your own shovel and buckets or bags; and no landscape contractors or truckloads.
Spring is the perfect time to give your soil a boost while also supporting sustainability efforts.
