Demolition of Former Fireman’s Fund Campus (773, 775, & 777 San Marin Drive)

Post Date:09/03/2025 4:00 PM

Bay West Development intends to initiate demolition of the former Fireman’s Fund office campus on or shortly after September 8, 2025. The expected start of demolition is tentative and subject to change. The demolition process will include removing the existing office buildings, parking lots, on-site utilities, man-made pond, landscaping, and other constructed improvements within the area bounded by East Campus Drive, West Campus Drive, and San Marin Drive.

Demolition will be conducted in accordance with all applicable regulations, including limits on workdays and hours, the implementation of measures to avoid or minimize noise disturbances, dust, and traffic delays, and the recycling of demolition debris pursuant to the City’s construction and demolition debris ordinance. Demolition activities are allowed from 7am to 6pm on weekdays, from 10am to 5pm on Saturdays, and is prohibited on Sundays and federal holidays, unless authorized by the Community Development Director. Bay West Development has not proposed extended workdays or hours for the demolition phase.

Demolition of the office campus is a key step toward realizing residential redevelopment of the long-vacant property, which will make a significant contribution towards expanding affordable and market-rate housing opportunities in Novato. Bay West Development is planning to submit development entitlement applications detailing the design of future neighborhoods at the property.

Neighbors in the surrounding area will be receiving a courtesy mailer with details about the upcoming demolition.

For additional information about this project, please contact Deputy Community Development Director Steve Marshall at (415) 899-8942 or smarshall@novato.org.
