The Housing, Zoning & Building Codes Appeals Board is charged with examining issues involving the City's Municipal Code, which includes the current California Building and Health & Safety Codes. The most common issue heard involves violations of the Municipal Code resulting in public/private nuisances. Properties declared a public nuisance are required to adhere to the ruling of the board and pay a fee in excess of $1500.00, plus possible staff recovery and attorney fees.
