Significant Recent Changes in State Law Regarding Housing Projects

In recent years, the California legislature has proposed and passed several important amendments to state codes which were signed into law by the Governor related to housing, including the Housing Crisis Act of 2019. Many of these bills mandate streamlined processing and limit discretionary decision making by local governments and increase the percentage of density bonus provided to a developer when proposing affordable housing. Some of the most significant of those housing bills are summarized below.
