The Margaret Todd Senior Center is a program of Novato Parks, Recreation and Community Services.  The Center offers enrichment and fitness courses, special events, game groups, specialty groups, and outreach services that bring people together, encourage social connections, and create new learning experiences.  If you’re looking to meet new friends, simply relax, or just have fun, the Margaret Todd Senior Center is the place for you. 

The City of Novato is abiding by all State and County health protocols and continuing to monitor guidance regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic closely. Masks are not required inside City facilities at this time. We appreciate your understanding and compliance with these protocols for the safety of our community and staff. Guidelines are subject to change. 

Classes and Programs

Membership

There is an annual membership fee to participate in many of the activities offered Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am-5pm. Membership Application Forms are available at the Margaret Todd Senior Center front counter or you can download the fillable form here.  Membership includes a monthly newsletter either emailed or paper mailed to you.  A sample of a recent newsletter can be found here.

Game Groups (included in membership)

Game Groups are open to members. Current on-going Center activities include a free lending library, poker, cribbage, party bridge, duplicate bridge, canasta, bocce ball and more. Center membership is required for all programs listed below. Please call the Center at (415) 899-8290 for more information.

Donations
The Margaret Todd Senior Center accepts donations, memorials and remembrances that will be designated for Center program use. Please contact the the Center for information on ways to contribute.                                      

Financial Assistance                                                        
The Senior Citizens Financial Assistance Program is established to provide an opportunity for Novato seniors, who, because of economic hardship, are unable to participate in City-sponsored classes and membership.  The program is established and funded solely by donations and is administered by the staff at the Margaret Todd Senior Center.  Financial assistance is provided to adults (50 years or older) who reside within the city limits of Novato. Funding is 50% of the program fee, with a maximum of $100 per eligible fiscal year July 1 though June 30.

Congregate Meal Program

The congregate lunch program at Margaret Todd has returned! Make a reservation two weeks in advance to eat lunch in person in the dining room on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 12-12:30pm. Reservations can be made by calling (415) 473-4636. $3 suggested contribution. For more information or a copy of this month's menu, please stop by the front desk.  Funding for this program, at least in part, is made available by the Marin Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Social Services, Aging & Adult Services.

Facility Rental
The Margaret Todd Senior Center is an ideal location for wedding receptions, dances, parties, meetings and seminars.  The auditorium has a large wooden dance floor, stage, PA/sound system, commercial kitchen, and can accommodate up to 280 people (theater seating) and 200 (dining). If you are looking for a smaller room, the Center has several meeting rooms on weekdays that are ideal for classes, meetings, and seminars.  Rental fees vary depending upon the type of event, room and duration of the event.
