Citywide Play Structure Upgrades (CIP Project No. 22-006)

Description

The Citywide Play Structure Upgrades project, CIP No. 22-006, was created to address findings from a 2019 Playground Assessment Report. This project includes improvements to four different playground sites in the City – Olive Tot Lot, South Hamilton Park, Bahia Oak Park, and Miwok Park.

The proposed scope of work of this project includes:

  • Remove wood chips and replace with pour-in-place (PIP) surfacing at the Olive Tot Lot, Bahia Oak Park playground and South Hamilton Park (swing set bay only) to enhance accessibility and reduce maintenance costs. Installing PIP has also been requested by the public, specifically the adaptive needs community, through community meetings hosted for the Pioneer Park Project, and addresses assessment report items regarding fall protection.
  • Remove synthetic turf under swing set at Miwok Park to enhance accessibility.
  • Removal and replacement of the existing play structure, existing pavers, and concrete flatwork at the Olive Tot Lot.
  • Replacement of existing water fountains at the Olive Tot Lot and South Hamilton Park with new sensor operated accessible drinking fountains and bottle fillers.

Four playgrounds located in the City of Novato – Olive Tot Lot, South Hamilton Park, Bahia Oak Park, and Miwok Park.

Schedule

Construction started on September 12, 2023, with tentative completion by mid November 2023.

Cost

$456,250.00. Costs are based on the design and development fees, new play structures and water fountains purchase cost, engineering estimate for the construction and construction management. Sources of the funding are One Time ARP Funds from Fund, Long Term Maintenance and Development Improvement Fees – Recreation.
