6/7/17 Status Update:
Fence construction and installation is complete and staff is currently working on landscaping, irrigation and sidewalk repair. A time-lapse video of fence construction can be viewed at www.facebook.com/novatopw.
During project construction it was discovered that five Liquid Amber trees needed to be removed due to their invasive root systems. The roots are compromising the sidewalk and creating a tripping hazard. The "burrs" or "seed pods" that fall from Liquid Ambers also creates a tripping hazard. Additionally, the tree roots interfered with the installation of the new irrigation system. Maintenance crews will be replanting a total of eight Crepe Myrtle trees to replace the five Liquid Ambers.
Staff anticipate this project will be complete by Monday, June 26.
Project Overview
Josef Hoog Park Fencing
Description
Installation of concrete 2-rail fence at the park behind the sidewalk along Marin Oaks Drive. The fence chosen for this project will provide benefit of concrete technology with the traditional look and functionality of wood fencing. The proposed fencing system is made from high density concrete and reinforced with steel and fiber mesh giving it durability. Rails and posts will not distort, decay or splinter, saving cost of maintenance and/or replacement.
Staff is also replacing approximately 3 yards of damaged sidewalk, located on the left side of the parking lot.
