Project Overview

 Vineyard Road Improvements (CIP 15-017)

Description

This project will consist of comprehensive pavement rehabilitation (Cold In-Place Recycling is being considered) of the existing roadway with localized dig-outs and patched as needed; inclusion of Class II and Class III bicycle facilities through the project limits where feasible based on pavement width; replacement of any damaged existing curbs and gutters; upgrade ADA curb ramps and accessibility features as mandated; replacement of pavement striping and markings; and relocate and/or install new traffic signs.

Location

The project limits extend from Wilson Avenue at the eastern terminus of Vineyard Road, to Sutro Avenue at the western terminus for a total length of approximately 1.118 miles.

 Benefit

The primary focus of this project is to repair/repave roadway surface to enhance vehicular and bicyclist safety. Additional improvements include upgrading ADA facilities as mandated by current guidelines and repairs to existing pedestrian infrastructure.


 Schedule

  • Construction started April 1, 2019 with an installation of the pedestrian infrastructure (sidewalks, curb ramps).
  • Construction of a large section of the sidewalk (Eucalyptus Avenue to Trumbull Avenue-800 feet) started April 22, 2019.
  • The major roadway reconstruction, Cold in Place Recycling (CIR), is scheduled to begin the second half of May, in four phases-4 days.
  1. Wilson Avenue to Eucalyptus Avenue-westbound
  2. Eucalyptus Avenue to Sutro Avenue -westbound
  3. Sutro Avenue to Eucalyptus Avenue-eastbound
  4. Eucalyptus Avenue to Wilson Avenue-eastbound
  • Final Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) overlay is tentatively scheduled for the week of May 28 (after Memorial Day) and expected to take approximately 4 to 5 days.
  • Driveway conforms, punch list items, final cleanup will take place first half of June


 Cost

Total funding is $ 1,815,757. $ 1,015,000 is federal Surface Transportation Program Block Grant (STP) funding, $550,000 is state SB1 Gas Tax and $250,757 is a local funding match.
