The City of Novato is pleased to announce a Call to Artists for a proposed mural design at the soon to be renovated Hamilton Amphitheater Park Playground, located at 601 N. Hamilton Parkway. As part of our ongoing efforts to expand public art throughout the city, this project aims to integrate the creativity and vision of artists into our shared community spaces. Public art enriches the visual character of our parks, strengthens community identity, supports local artists, and activates civic gathering spaces.
Historically, personnel from the former Hamilton Air Force Base gathered at the stone amphitheater to enjoy aerial demonstrations. Today, the Novato community comes together in this very same space for concerts, film nights, and a variety of live performances.
As identified in the City of Novato’s 2024 Parks Master Plan, this park is undergoing a playground renovation designed to enhance accessibility and improve play opportunities for children ages 2–5. The proposed mural will be installed along the existing concrete curbing surrounding the play area, creating a vibrant and welcoming space for families and visitors.
While submissions are welcome from all artists, priority consideration will be given to Novato and Marin County residents.
Please review the Project Guidelines before submitting your application materials.
